IT WAS ALL A DREAM

When Dr. Kenston J. Griffin decided to establish Dream Builders Communication, Inc. (DBC), he had a dream. He knew he wanted to provide a unique and collaborative professional development experience, but he also acknowledged that he couldn't do it alone. So in 2000, he birthed Dream Builders Communication, Inc.

Since then, Dr. Griffin and the DBC team continue to utilize their gifts and talents with Corporations, Educational Institutions,  Government Municipalities. and Non-Profit Organizations to increase their bottom line, sustainability, profitability, and evidence-based outcomes. 

Meet Our Executive Leadership Team

Dr. Kenston J. Griffin

Chief Executive Officer

Kenston J. Griffin is native of Statesville, NC, holds a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Livingstone College and obtained a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in just one year, and a Doctorate from Wilberforce University. In addition, he's a certified masters level executive coach, multiple time best-selling author, and has been the CEO of Dream Builders Communication from its inception. After investing nearly 20 years into building his dream, Dr. Kenston J. Griffin says he learned a valuable lesson in both business and in life: “I can’t do it alone”. As the CEO of Dream Builders Communication, Inc., he has been responsible for giving his clients and team members the vision and support they need to succeed. “We all work hard to ensure our culture is one that thrives. My role is important because I provide direction and stability to the DBC organization.”

Kevin L. Alston

Chief Operating Officer

Kevin L. Alston is a native of Charleston, SC and holds a Bachelor's in Business Management from Southern Wesleyan University, a Master's in Information Technology Management, and is currently completing his Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences at Walden University. He is a best-selling author, Certified Master Coach, Certified NLP Practitioner, master trainer, and motivational speaker.

Sherry Griffin

Vice President of Finance & Human Resources

Sherry Griffin a native of Saint Stephens, SC, graduated from Lander University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She also earned a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from Webster University. She is the Finance and Human Resources Manager and supports clients in a variety of industries including Education and Financial Services at Dream Builders Communication. Prior to working at Dream Builders Communication, she served as the Assistant Director of Education and Workforce for a variety of programs at the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. Sherry serves on the YMCA Stratford Richardson Board and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated with Richland County Alumnae Chapter. 

Robin Johnson

Executive Assistant

Robin Johnson, a native of Mooresville, NC. She received her Birth to Kindergarten degree from Appalachian State University in 2008. She went on to complete her Master of Education from Gardner Webb University in 2013, and in 2020 a Master of Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Robin enjoys cooking, singing, and reading in her free time. Mark 9:23 is a foundational scripture in her life.

Reginald Toxey

Director of Training and Development

Reginald Toxey, Jr., a native of Elizabeth City, NC where he became an entrepreneur at an early age and gained knowledge of leadership before attending Elizabeth City State University. After transitioning to Charlotte, NC, Mr. Toxey attended University of Phoenix and Capella University, and received his Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and also attained a graduate certificate in Project Management. His background consists of components of healthcare leadership development and process improvement for more than 20 years.

Terrence Hawkins, EA

Finance Office Coordinator

Terrance Hawkins EA, a native of Henderson, NC received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With over 30 years of tax accounting and entrepreneurial experience as well as an Enrolled Agent (EA), he is authorized to represent clerks before the IRS in all 50 states. Mr. Hawkins is a frequent guest on local and national radio stations as well as a sought-out coach, trainer, and speaker. Terrance's continued goal is to assist individual and companies by implementing strategies to never overpay taxes.

Dr. Chavis Gash

Business Analytics Coordinator

Chavis Gash is a native of Kings Mountain, NC. Chavis is a Research Educational Practitioner that is well rounded in the education and business profession. He holds two Master’s degrees in Divinity and Psychology as well as a Doctor of Education and Innovation. Dr. Gash is known across the country for his innovative methodologies and assists organizations in identifying gaps, trends, as well as research-based solutions that support the day-to-day operations of creating a successful culture.

Dr. Cheree Gillespie

Training Coordinator

Cheree Gillespie a native of Statesville, NC. and holds two bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Theology as well as a Master degree in Theology. Cheree is known for providing solutions that support the day-to-day operations and creating a successful culture in Iredell-Statesville Schools as well as surrounding counties. Other duties include coordinating service deliveries, reviewing presentation materials, providing guidance for event planning, conducting business outreach, and developing new ways to make the current process stronger.

Tevin Carr, J.D. 

Educational/Media Coordinator

Tevin Carr is a native of Statesville, NC. Tevin holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Elon University and a BA in Political Science with a Public Administrative focus. Tevin is known for providing solutions that support the day-to-day operations and creating a successful culture in Iredell-Statesville Schools as well as surrounding counties. Other duties include managing the accounts in our CRM system, managing our social accounts, updating the website, providing guidance for event planning, conducting business outreach and developing new ways to make the current process stronger.

Dr. Alicia McCree

Educational Specialist

A Charlotte Native and proud parent of two adult children. She has graduate degrees from Johnson C. Smith University, UNC-Charlotte, and Wingate University. With over 27-years of education experience, she is a former teacher, instructional facilitator, and school principal. Dr. McCree brings experience and expertise in the following areas:

Dr. Sheila Ijames

Educational Specialist

Sheila Ijames is a native of Statesville, NC, and proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Intermediate Education. She received her Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as well as a Master of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Ijames received her Educational Leadership doctoral degree from Wingate University. She has served as an elementary and middle/junior high school teacher, Instructional Facilitator, middle school, Assistant Principal, Title I Specialist, assistant to an elementary area superintendent, and high school principal. After her departure from the public school system, Dr. Ijames served as the Regional Director of Youth Programs for a non-profit. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member for two different colleges.

Donnell Dorsett

Media Specialist

Donnell Dorsett a native of Nasa, Bahamas received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Florida Memorial University with over 10+ years experiences in middle and high-school education. As her career progressed and she traveled across several states, she transitioned to social media. Aside from managing content on social media platforms, Donnell oversees creative design, responds to reader comments, and oversees site metrics.

Ryan Gause

Lead Master's Level Executive Coach

Ryan Gause a native of Brittons Neck, SC received hi Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Winthrop University and he is pursuing his Master’s in Finance from Webster University. With over 20 years of components experience, Ryan approach to leadership and problem solving is second to none to when it comes to solutions and measurable outcomes. Ryan enjoys cooking, grilling, spending time with his family and loves the team approach to leadership development.

Hillman Evans, IV

Lead Master's Level Executive Coach

Hillman Evans a native of Raleigh, NC earned his Bachelor’s in Sport Management from Livingstone College and his Master’s in Communications from Queens University of Charlotte. Living in Dallas, Hillman continuously worked with young professionals in Higher education, various corporations, and entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses and has an unbreakable excitement for what the future may hold for them all. He has since become an Executive Life Coach, Adjunct Professor for Abilene Christian University (ACU). Hillman listens, conducts in-depth interviews, asks questions, provides support, and feedback, and challenge individuals. Our Executive Coaches work with both individuals and teams to enhance their skills.
